building the church (brick by brick)

This last month, more than usual, we have been meeting one-on-one with individuals and challenging them to press-in to God more. Our family has been called by God to come to Los Angeles to build His church. In our children's last days of summer vacation we spent a lot of time building Lego’s together – brick by brick wonderful creations emerged. Likewise, the way we understand the church will be built, is ‘brick by brick’ or one life at a time. We have been planning and dreaming together with the others in the church this month encouraging them to ask God “How do you want me to build Your church?” It is encouraging that personal intimacy with God, unity in the church and sharing our faith keep coming up. The church will grow and be healthy as each individual seeks to love and honor God and lives outwardly what God is doing inwardly….this is how we build the church – one brick at a time.

Updates

High School Summer Camp
We sent out 5 of our core High School students for a week of growing in God at camp.  We were unable to be with them during the week because of other responsibilities at the church, but they talked our ear off on the way home of all the great things they learned, memories they made and fun they had.

Marriage Conference: The Art of Marriage.
We had 12 people participate, and they were blessed!  We had an unexpected blessing of some extra help too when some friends that had stopped in for a visit from out of town decided to stay a while and help with some of the childcare on Friday night.   The feedback from everyone that attended the conference was very positive.  Couples were using their break times to get alone and talk and spend some time together.  This is not something we usually see, so it was encouraging to see how couples were able to re-engage with one another.

The church wants to do this same conference again in early 2014 so they can invite their friends and family out.  We also are talking about inviting some other churches to bless them with this material.

Please Pray with Us…

FL!P: Fuente Leadership Intern Program
Next month we launch our new intern/leadership training program where we will be strategically training-up leaders to flip the world upside down for Christ.
We will focus on three core areas: discipleship, accountability, training in ministry/leadership.

Please pray for God to hand pick the right cohort and powerful times ministering to and ministering with this group.

AdAM: Academy of Worship and Music (Academia de Alabanza y Música)
We were created to worship God.  September will also be the launch of our newly revitalized worship and music training ministry.  Both youth and adults will be coming together to study the Bible and have a short hand’s on teaching on what praise and worship area at a heart level.  Then we will have an hour training time where they are learning how to sing or play the guitar.  Lastly we will be putting all this together and forming worship teams and eventually releasing these teams to lead worship on Sunday mornings.

Pray that we would raise-up many people that would have a heart of worship like King David to sing and lead other’s in to God’s presence.

Youth Group
Our emerging youth leaders Erika and Nancy are going back to Cal State Los Angeles soon and this means we had to be creative with some of our youth activities since their classes conflict with our mid-week service. One of our primary goals is to empower them and let them grow in their leadership.

The change is giving us some great momentum and we ask for your prayers for:
-Erika and Nancy to be able to balance their ministry, home, work and school lives.
-That the youth group would continue to grow in:
               (1) intimacy with God,
               (2) unity together and
               (3) an ability to reach the other youth in the community.

Family
Please continually lift up our family – our marriage and children.  Also pray for our relationship with God to continually grow deeper. Rebecca enters 3rd grade and Justice 1st grade this year.

With your help, brick-by-brick we are building Christ’s church.  Thank you for your prayers and support and love!

Chad, Fabiola, Rebecca and Justice
