New Beginnings

What an exciting season of new beginnings and growth!  We are not talking about spring, but the amazing things that God is doing here in the South Park community of South Central Los Angeles.  As you know, at the end of this month, we will all celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday.  We are seeing men and women, youth and children grasp the power of the resurrection as they are being set free from the chains of sin and death.  Our whole church, Fuente para las Naciones, is now preparing for that celebration and the hope that even more people will be able to join us in worship and surrender to our King!

We have a core group at the church taking on more leadership responsibility and serving one another in love.  There is a group that is always cleaning up after service and another group that has shown a deeper interest in learning how to play and lead worship music. We have also had several men and women preach, teach and share testimonies.  Pictured to the left are two men, Martin and Andres leading a small group Bible study.  This is great news because we know that we cannot do everything or sustain the growth without the engagement of the whole church Body.

One of the newest changes is in giving.  Coming from unchurched homes the idea of giving an offering was foreign, but little by little they are discovering the joy and blessing of giving to God’s Kingdom.  A group has also begun making things to sell and recently held a garage sale to raise more funds for some of our start up needs and projects.  We recently read that despite being close to 600 percent richer (when adjusted for inflation) than we were in 1932, Americans give 0.7 percent less to charitable causes. (Source: Empty Tomb)  How exciting that our group of new believers while not earning very much by American standards is learning to be generous and joyful givers!

Please pray for our outreach Bible Club in the park the week leading up to Easter Sunday.  We will also be having a special service on Good Friday where we will show The Passion of the Christ.  Many of our families will be serving in various capacities during our week of Bible Club in the park – and we will be sharing the Good News very clearly through storytelling, craft projects, relationship, music, dance and speaking.  Not only will we be sharing and giving that whole week in the park, but our church plant team will partner up with these emerging leaders and go and visit the homes of every one of the families that come out to be a part of the outreach.

We so appreciate your prayers!

He Is Risen!
